MAHWAH, N.J. – The Cedar Crest College field hockey team was topped by Ramapo College in a 4-0 final in a non-league matchup on Friday night.
The Roadrunners got on the board in the 11
th minute with a goal from sophomore Victoria Chavez (Pequannock, N.J.) with the assist going to junior Morgan Trotter (Mount Olive, N.J.) to put Ramapo up 1-0.
The home team tacked on a pair of markers in the second quarter on goals from Chavez and sophomore Tessa Pofahl (Hainesport, N.J.) to carry a 3-0 advantage in halftime.
Ramapo added one more tally in the fourth quarter to make it 4-0, the eventual final. First-year Kayla Gray (Medford, N.J.) found the back of the cage in the 49
th minute for her second goal of the season. The assist was credited to first-year Eliana Momm (Toms River, N.J.).
Junior Michelle Kukan (Clark, N.J.) registered the win in goal for the Roadrunners. She did not record a save over 45 minutes of action. Sophomore Erika Roura (Mount Laurel, N.J.) played the final 15 minutes and picked up two saves. First-year
Kadee Schrader (Northampton, Pa./Northampton Area) was credited with the loss for the Falcons, making three saves in 30 minutes. Junior
Brynn Rifino (Dover, Del./Smyrna) played the final 30 minutes and made a pair of saves.
Ramapo outshot Cedar Crest 15-7 and doubled up the Falcons in penalty corners, 8-4. Senior
Mira Carver (Lebanon, N.J./North Hunterdon) and sophomores
Olivia Horninger (Friedens, Pa./Northern Lehigh) and
Olivia Wanner (Lyons, Pa./Kutztown Area) recorded two shots each for Cedar Crest. First-year
Reagan Ferst (Hazleton, Pa./Hazleton Area) registered a defensive save.
Cedar Crest (2-10 overall) will stay on the road as it travels to Randolph-Macon College for a non-conference game on Saturday, October 14 at 2:30 p.m. Ramapo (3-6 overall) will have a quick turnaround as it hosts Keystone College tomorrow, Saturday, October 7 at 4:00 p.m.
