BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Cedar Crest College field hockey team was bested by Bridgewater College, 5-0, on Sunday morning in a non-league game at the Jopson Athletic Complex.
After a corner with seven seconds remaining in the first quarter, the Eagles got the lone goal of the stanza as junior Emily Tyler (Leesburg, Va.) deposited the marker as time expired. The goal was assisted by sophomore Carynn Klingler (Hanover, Pa.).
Following a scoreless second quarter, Bridgewater registered three goals in just over five minutes in the third quarter, all scored by first-year Lexi Francis (Bristow, Va.). The first two were unassisted while the third was assisted by sophomore Autumn Just (Ashland, Va.).
Bridgewater added one more goal in the fourth quarter after Klingler put a shot past first-year goalkeeper
Shelby Heater (Lehighton, Pa./Lehighton Area) with 8:36 remaining in regulation to make it the 5-0 final.
First-year Ashley Nau (Yorktown, Va.) picked up the win in goal for the Eagles, playing 15 minutes and earning one save. First-year Kaydee Schrader played 45 minutes in goal for the Falcons and recorded 15 saves.
Bridgewater outshot Cedar Crest 26-3 and had 10 penalty corners to the Falcons' one.

Sydney Jeker (Sciota, Pa./Pleasant Valley) had one for Cedar Crest. First-year
Reagan Ferst (Hazleton, Pa./Hazleton Area) picked up a pair of defensive saves.
Cedar Crest (1-2 overall) will welcome in Stevenson University for its next game on Wednesday, September 13 at 6:00 p.m. Bridgewater (2-1 overall) will stay at home to host Christopher Newport University on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
