READING, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College soccer team was dealt a 2-0 setback at Albright College on Saturday afternoon in a non-league contest at Shirk Stadium.
The Lions netted a goal in each half to give themselves the victory.
First-year Audrey Solt (Sinking Spring, Pa.) registered the initial marker in the 40
th minute to give Albright the advantage and then first-year Haley Denuto (Old Bridge, N.J.) found the back of the net in the 77
th minute, which came off an assist from sophomore Nyla Callahan (York, Pa.) for the 2-0 win.
The Lions had a 14-5 lead in the shot category, while the teams were even in corner kicks with four apiece. All five of the Cedar Crest shots were on goal. Senior
Olivia Kelly (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) had two, while juniors
Linsey Nester (Mohrsville, Pa./Hamburg),
Madison Balliet (Palmerton, Pa./Palmerton Area), and
Abril Riley (Levittown, Pa./Harry S. Truman) each recorded one.
Junior McKenna Levan (Pine Grove, Pa.) secured the win in goal for Albright, making five saves in 90 minutes of action. Sophomore
Bella Bozen (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township) made five saves of her own for the Falcons.
Cedar Crest (0-3-1 overall) travels to Neumann University for its next match, which will take place on Wednesday, September 20 at 4:00 p.m. Albright (3-2-1 overall) will host Wilkes University for its next match on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
