ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College tennis team fell to Muhlenberg College in a 9-0 final on Friday afternoon in a non-league match.
The Mules began the match with a sweep of doubles play. Sophomore Kety Gaidamashvili (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and senior Sophia Framm (Owings Mills, Md.) defeated seniors
Katherine Franzone (Mount Bethel, Pa./Pennsylvania Cyber Charter) and
Brittany Schultz (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) at first doubles, 8-3. Sophomore Caitlin Bestrycki (Scranton, Pa.) and first-year Alexandra Downey (Bayonne, N.J.) took down the Falcons' No. 2 doubles team of first-years
Jamie Reed (York, Pa./Dover Area) and
Grace Huff (Pottsville, Pa./Pottsville Area), 8-1. Muhlenberg completed the sweep when first-years Jordyn Brown (Stamford, Conn.) and Taylor Current (Hampton, N.J.) got by senior
Megan Fiedler (Woodbridge, Va./Woodbridge Senior) and junior
Corinne O'Connor (Bay Shore, N.Y./Bay Shore) at third doubles, 8-2.
The Mules captured all six singles matches, dropping just seven games across all matches.
Cedar Crest (0-3 overall) will return to action on Saturday, September 23 at Penn State Abington at 1:00 p.m. Muhlenberg (1-2 overall) hosts Albright College on Saturday at 10:00 a.m.
