ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College tennis team dropped a non-conference match to Muhlenberg College, 6-3, on Friday afternoon at the Kern Field Courts.
 
The Mules began the afternoon with a 2-1 start in doubles play. The Falcons' first doubles pair of senior Katherine Franzone (Mount Bethel, Pa./Pennsylvania Cyber Charter) and graduate student Fayth Stephenson (Seaside, N.J.) fell to senior Sophia Framm (Owings Mills, Md.) and sophomore Caitlin Bestrycki (Scranton, Pa.), 8-2. Senior Megan Fiedler (Woodbridge, Va./Woodbridge Senior) and junior Grace Nieman (Mount Airy, Md./South Carroll) were defeated by first-year Jordyn Brown (Stamford, Conn.) and first-year Taylor Current (Hampton, N.J.) at second doubles, 8-3. First-year Grace Huff (Pottsville, Pa./Pottsville Area) (Pottsville, Pa. / Pottsville Area) and junior Corinne O'Connor (Bay Shore, N.Y./Bay Shore) (Bay Shore, N.Y. / Bay Shore) won by forfeit at third doubles for Cedar Crest.
 
Senior Lily Spagnola (Barnegat, N.J./Barnegat) opened singles play and was defeated by Framm by identical 6-1 scores at the No. 1 spot. Franzone fell to Bestrycki at second singles (6-3, 6-0.). Fiedler was defeated by Brown by 6-0, 6-1 scores at the No. 3 slot. O'Connor fell to Current, 6-0, 6-2, at fourth singles. Nieman and first-year Camber Beverage (Taylor, Pa./Riverside) won by forfeit at fifth and sixth singles, respectively.
 
Cedar Crest (0-4 overall) will return to the courts away against Kean University on Friday, March 22 at 5:30 p.m. Muhlenberg (3-5 overall) will travel to Franklin & Marshall College on Wednesday, April 3 at 4:00 p.m.
