Box Score UNION, N.J. – The Cedar Crest College tennis team fell to Kean University in a non-conference match, 7-2 , on Friday night at the Alumni Stadium Tennis Courts.
 
The Cougars began the match with a 2-1 start in doubles play. The Falcons' first doubles pair of seniors Katherine Franzone (Mount Bethel, Pa./Pennsylvania Cyber Charter) and Lily Spagnola (Barnegat, N.J./Barnegat) fell to graduate student Grace Del Pino (Fayetteville, N.Y.) and sophomore Maria Torres (Basking, Ridge, N.J.), 8-2. Senior Selina Maisonett (South Amboy, N.J.) and first-year Ashley Mendoza-Tarazona (Carteret, N.J.) defeated junior Corinne O'Connor (Bay Shore, N.Y./Bay Shore) and senior Megan Fielder with a score of 8-2 at second doubles. Junior Grace Nieman (Mount Airy, Md./South Carroll) and first-year Grace Huff (Pottsville, Pa./Pottsville Area) defeated Molly Gomez (Carteret, N.J.) and Gigi Gutierrez (West New York, N.J.) of Kean University, 8-3 to pick up the Falcons' first win.
 
Spagnola opened singles play and was defeated by Del Pino at first singles (6-0, 6-1.) Franzone fell to Maria Torres (Basking Ridge, N.J.) at the No. 2 spot, 6-1, 6-0. Fiedler was taken down by Mendoza-Tarazona by a 6-0, 6-2 final score at third singles. Maisonett got by O'Connor at No. 4 singles, 6-0 and 6-2. Nieman defeated Gomez at fifth singles by 6-1,6-2 scores. Gutierrez defeated first-year Camber Beverage (Taylor, Pa./Riverside) at No. 6 in a 6-1, 6-1 final.
 
Cedar Crest (0-5 overall) will return to the courts home against East Stroudsburg University on Sunday, March 24 at 12:00 p.m. Kean (5-0 overall) will host William Paterson University on Wednesday, April 3 at 5:30 p.m.
