Tennis Collects First Win of Season; Tops NDMU

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College tennis team secured its first win of the season with a 6-1 triumph over Notre Dame of Maryland University on Tuesday afternoon. The Falcons clinched five out of six singles matches and took the doubles point with wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions.

In doubles play, juniors Cam Beverage (Taylor, Pa./Riverside) and Grace Huff (Pottsville, Pa./Pottsville Area) secured a 6-0 win at No. 2 doubles, followed by senior Megan Perrine (Mount Vision, N.Y./Gilbertsville-Mount Upton) and sophomore Ella Bincarosky (Coopersburg, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic), who posted another 6-0 victory at third doubles. The No. 1 doubles team of first-year Jade Wilson (Allentown, Pa./Louis E. Dieruff) and graduate student Gracelynn Pauley (New Oxford, Pa./South Western) lost 6-0, but wins at the other two spots, Cedar Crest went up 1-0.

In singles, the Falcons extended their lead with Beverage finishing with a 6-2 and 6-0 triumph at No. 2 singles, and Pauley recording a 6-4, 6-3 win at third singles. Huff followed with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles, and Wilson sealed the overall win for Cedar Crest by winning 6-2, 6-0 at fifth singles.

Perrine continued the team's momentum with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 6 singles. Despite Bincarosky's defeat at first singles, the Falcons came away with the 6-1 win.

Cedar Crest (1-9 overall, 1-7 United East) concludes the regular season with a road match at Penn State Berks on Saturday, April 18 at noon. Notre Dame of Maryland (0-8 overall, 0-8 United East) will round out the regular season at Penn State Harrisburg on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
