GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – A first quarter goal from junior Laura Filchner (Bath, Pa.) was the difference in Cedar Crest College field hockey's 1-0 setback to Gwynedd Mercy University on Monday night.
Filchner tallied the lone goal of the contest in the eighth minute to put the Griffins in front, 1-0, the eventual final.
Gwynedd Mercy first-year goalkeeper Nikki Williams (Cinnaminson, N.J.) made two saves in the win while first-year
Kadee Schrader (Northampton, Pa./Northampton Area) recorded four saves in the loss for Cedar Crest.
The Griffins had a 9-3 advantage in the shot category and registered 10 penalty corners to the Falcons' six.

Cedar Crest (1-7 overall) begins a three-game homestand, beginning on Wednesday, September 27 against Immaculata University at 6:00 p.m. Gwynedd Mercy (1-6 overall) will stay at home for a non-conference tilt against Arcadia University on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
