LA PLUME, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College soccer team secured its first win of the season with a 2-0 shutout of Keystone College in a United East Conference Skye Division matchup on Saturday.
The Falcons got one goal in each half to earn the victory.
Junior
Kayla Reiter (Emmaus, Pa./Northwestern Lehigh) put the Falcons on the board in the 26
th minute, with the assist going to classmate
Abril Riley (Levittown, Pa./Harry S. Truman) to go up 1-0.
Cedar Crest added another in the 79
th minute when junior
Madison Balliet (Palmerton, Pa./Palmerton Area) netted her first career goal, which was set up by first-year
Avery Kramer (Blandon, Pa./Fleetwood Area) for the 2-0 final.
The Falcons dominated the shot category, outshooting the Giants 27-3. Cedar Crest also registered nine corner kicks as compared to none for Keystone.
Sophomore
Bella Bozen (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township) picked up the win in goal for the Falcons, making one save. Junior Annie Metzger (Chambersburg, Pa.) converted 15 saves in the loss for the Giants.
Cedar Crest 1-1-3 overall, 1-0-1 United East Conference-Skye Division) will next play at Saint Elizabeth University on Wednesday, October 4 at 4:00 p.m. Keystone (1-7-0 overall, 0-2-0 United East Conference-Skye Division) travels to Clarks Summit University for its next match, which will take place on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m.
