ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College field hockey team dropped a 3-0 decision to Keystone College in a United East Conference contest at the FalconPlex on Wednesday night.
After a scoreless first quarter, the Giants got on the board when junior Belen Rodriguez (Caballito, Buenos Aires, Argentina) netted her second goal of the season at 19:06 off assists from senior Jordan Vandermark (Hackettstown, N.J.) and graduate student Vicky Mainero (Francisco Alvarez, Buenos Aires, Argentina) to put Keystone ahead 1-0.
The visitors tacked on another goal as first-year Deanna Cole (Franklinville, N.J.) found the back of the cage at 42:00, which was set up by Vandermark to push the score to 2-0.
The Giants added a third goal when sophomore Lucia Cisilino (Tandil, Buenos Aires, Argentina) scored on a penalty stroke at 57:02 for the final marker of the game.
Keystone had a 32-7 advantage in shots and had 13 penalty corners to the Falcons' five. Sophomore
Sydney Jeker (Sciota, Pa./Pleasant Valley) paced Cedar Crest with three shots. Sophomore
Reagan Ferst (Hazleton, Pa./Hazleton Area) tallied a defensive save, bringing her season total to six, which ranks first in the conference and is tied for seventh in all of Division III.
Fifth-year Hannah Osbahr (Old Bridge, N.J.) collected six saves for the Giants, while sophomore
Shelby Heater (Lehighton, Pa./Lehighton Area) had 21 saves for the Falcons in the loss.
Cedar Crest (3-12 overall, 0-3 United East) will face Lancaster Bible College in its regular season road finale on Saturday, October 19 at 10:00 a.m. Keystone (6-6 overall, 2-1 United East) returns to action at St. Mary's College of Maryland on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
