ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College soccer team cruised to a 4-0 victory over the University of Valley Forge in a United East Conference match on Wednesday afternoon at the FalconPlex.
The Falcons registered its first goal of the contest in the 12
th minute on a marker from senior
Linsey Nester (Mohrsville, Pa./Hamburg) to give Cedar Crest the 1-0 lead.
The home team then netted three goals in the second half to put its stamp on the win. Senior
Abril Riley (Levittown, Pa./Harry S. Truman) scored her third goal of the season in the 66
th minute. The helpers were awarded to senior
Madison Balliet (Palmerton, Pa./Palmerton Area) and first-year
Alyssa Maldonado (Delmar, Md./Parkside). Balliet then found the back of the net in the 67
th minute off a pass from junior
Lauren Davis (Oley, Pa./Oley Valley). The final goal came from sophomore
Avery Kramer (Blandon, Pa./Fleetwood Area) in the 78
th minute with the assist going to graduate student
Olivia Kelly (Medford, N.J./Shawnee).
Cedar Crest tallied a season-high 55 shots in the win and also had 13 corner kicks.
Junior
Bella Bozen (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township) earned the victory in goal for the Falcons. Sophomore Abigail Wood (Lenhartsville, Pa.) recorded 24 saves in the loss for the Patriots.
Cedar Crest (4-5-2 overall, 2-2-1 United East) will head to Penn State Abington for its regular season road finale on Saturday, October 19 at 1:00 p.m. The University of Valley Forge (2-9-1 overall, 0-5-1 United East) hosts Penn State Berks in its next match on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
