MEDIA, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College soccer team scored a season-high in goals en route to a 6-0 victory over Penn State Brandywine in a United East Conference match on Wednesday afternoon at Brandywine Field.
The Falcons exploded for five goals in the first half. Senior
Kayla Reiter (Emmaus, Pa./Northwestern Lehigh) netted the initial goal of the contest in the fifth minute. The visitors added its second marker in the 25
th minute after sophomore
Avery Kramer (Blandon, Pa./Fleetwood Area) found the back of the net off an assist from junior
Lauren Davis (Oley, Pa./Oley Valley). Sophomore
Samantha Kern (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) registered back-to-back goals in the 31
st and 37
th minutes. Kern's first tally was assisted by senior
Abril Riley (Levittown, Pa./Harry S. Truman). Riley got in the scoring column in the 40
th minute to give Cedar Crest a 5-0 lead at the half.
The Falcons registered one more goal in the second half, coming off the foot of Riley in the 67
th minute. Davis was credited with the helper.
Junior
Bella Bozen (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township) did not face a shot in 65 minutes of action in goal to secure the win. Sophomore
Stephanie Macaluso (Kendall Park, N.J./South Brunswick) played the final 25 minutes in goal and made one save.
First-year Alexis Himelright (Lincoln University, Pa.) collected 11 saves in a loss for Penn State Brandywine.
Cedar Crest held a 29-2 advantage in shots and had four corner kicks to zero for the Lions.
Cedar Crest (3-2-2 overall, 1-0-1 United East) remains on the road for a league match at Penn State Harrisburg on Saturday, October 5 at 1:00 p.m. Penn State Brandywine (1-6-1 overall, 0-2-0 United East) will travel to Cairn University for a conference match on Saturday at 5:00 p.m.
