ASTON, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College field hockey team was defeated by Neumann University in a 3-0 final on in a non-league tilt on Wednesday night at the Neumann University Turf Field.
After a scoreless first quarter, the Knights got on the scoreboard when junior Molly McGee (Drexel Hill, Pa.) found the back of the cage at 24:14 to put the hosts ahead 1-0.
Neumann added a pair of goals in the third quarter. Sophomore Cadence Conti (Cedarville, N.J.) tallied a marker at 33:09, which was set up by McGee. Senior Elle Smith (Cinnaminson) put a shot home at 37:22 to help the Knights extend its margin to 3-0, the eventual final.
Neumann held a 15-8 advantage in shots and had six penalty corners to the Falcons' five. Junior
Olivia Horninger (Friedens, Pa./Northern Lehigh) led Cedar Crest with four shots. Junior
Olivia Wanner (Lyons, Pa./Kutztown Area) followed with two, while sophomore
Sydney Jeker (Sciota, Pa./Pleasant Valley), and junior
Kylah Demarest (Vernon, N.J./Vernon Township) each had one.
Senior Emma Schneider (Springfield, Pa.) recorded the win in goal for the Knights, making one save in 30 minutes. Sophomore Caley Gee (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) played the final 30 minutes and converted one save.

Shelby Heater (Lehighton, Pa./Lehighton Area) made nine saves for the Falcons in the loss.
Cedar Crest (3-9 overall) returns home to host Wilson College on Friday, October 11 at 7:00 p.m. It also marks Senior Day for the Falcons. Neumann (4-7 overall) will travel to McDaniel College for its non-conference finale on Friday at 5:00 p.m.
