Rebekka Sanchez-Castro (Columbia, Md./Atholton) of the Cedar Crest College volleyball team was named as an Academic All-District® selection by College Sports Communicators (CSC), as announced by the organization Tuesday afternoon.
The 2024 Academic All-District® Volleyball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes volleyball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Sanchez-Castro played in all 26 matches and tallied 39 kills, 58 assists, 34 service aces, 457 digs, and three blocks. Academically, she is a criminal justice major and has a 3.73 GPA as a graduate student.
To be selected Academic All-District®, a student-athlete had to have been at least a sophomore academically and athletically, have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale), and must have competed in 90 percent of the games or must have started at least 66 percent of the games for their team.
