Lacrosse Powers Past Trinity Washington

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College lacrosse team powered to an 18-4 victory over Trinity Washington University on Thursday night at the FalconPlex.

The Falcons began the game with four straight goals, coming from four different scorers. Junior Maddie Graham (Clayton, Del./Smyrna) started things when she found the back of the net off an assist from first-year Kadee Schrader (Northampton, Pa./Northampton Area) just 57 seconds into the game. Graham then set up Schrader for a marker at the 13:22 mark. Junior Ashley Large (Parker, Colo./Regis Jesuit) registered the third goal for Cedar Crest with 10:53 to play, with the helper going to Graham. Sophomore Ellie Terranova (Wilmington, Del./Mount Pleasant) netted her first goal of the game with 9:42 on the clock. Schrader picked up the assist. The Tigers ended the run with a tally from first-year Nan-Elizabeth Holt (Alexandria, Va.) and then Graham and sophomore Kylah Demarest (Vernon, N.J./Vernon Township) recorded goals to push the score to 6-1 at the end of the opening quarter.
Holt deposited her second goal of the day and second for Trinity Washington 54 seconds into the frame. The Falcons then finished the quarter on an 8-0 run to carry a 14-2 advantage into the half.

Cedar Crest then doubled up the Tigers, 4-2, in the third quarter. Terranova and Schrader tallied the initial goals for the Falcons. Holt then answered back with a goal off a helper from junior Catherine Rodriguez (El Salvador) with 6:21 to play. The home team got its next goal from the stick of Graham with the helper being credited to Schrader. Holt recorded her fourth marker of the game with 3:34 remaining in the frame while Sipel found Terranova for the last goal with 35 seconds to play in the 18-4 final.

Cedar Crest outshot Trinity Washington, 29-10.

First-year Irelyn Yoder (Wilmington, Del./Concord) made four saves in the triumph for the Falcons.

Graham collected eight points on four goals and four assists to go along with four draw controls. Schrader added seven points on three goals and four assists. She also picked up two draw controls and one ground ball. Terranova pitched in five points on four goals and one assist while also adding in three ground balls, two draw controls, and one caused turnover. Demarest registered four points on two goals and two assists. She also had three ground balls, one draw control, and one caused turnover. Sipel recorded three points on one goal and two assists while also turning in three draw controls and one ground ball. Large tallied one goal, three ground balls, and one caused turnover. Junior Rachel Bilger (Philadelphia, Pa./Upper Dublin) had a goal, five draw controls, one ground ball, and one caused turnover. Sophomore Adriana Dias (Bethlehem, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic) collected one goal while junior Brynn Rifino (Dover, Del./Smyrna) had one goal and one ground ball. Sophomore Nicole Guzman (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) closed out the box score with one ground ball and one caused turnover.

Cedar Crest (5-3 overall) hosts Notre Dame of Maryland University in a conference contest on Saturday, April 13 at noon for Senior Day. Trinity Washington (0-8 overall) will head to the University of the District of Columbia on Tuesday, April 16 at 4:00 p.m.
