ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College field hockey team suffered a 4-1 loss to Drew University on Wednesday night at the FalconPlex.
The teams traded goals in the opening quarter. Sophomore Brooke Carlisle (Clinton, Conn.) put the Rangers on the board just 56 seconds into the contest and then junior
Olivia Wanner (Lyons, Pa./Kutztown Area) evened the score for the Falcons when she netted her third goal of the season at 11:57, which was set up by sophomore
Sydney Jeker (Sciota, Pa./Pleasant Valley).
Drew went on to score one goal in each of the final three quarters to secure the win.
Senior Tyler Olivio (Brick Township, N.J.) made the score 2-1 at 17:15 when she put a shot home coming off an assist from first-year Ellie Kopec (West Long Branch, N.J.).
Senior Lauren Cagliostro (Toms River, N.J.) tacked one on the scoreboard at 32:05 with the assist being credited to sophomore Emma Rider (Delran, N.J.).
Olivio registered her second goal of the contest at 56:20 to make the score 4-1, the eventual final. Graduate student Hana Johnston (Mine Hill, N.J.) was awarded the helper.
Sophomore Beth Kelly (Stewartsville, N.J.) picked up the win in goal for Drew, making three saves. Sophomore
Shelby Heater (Lehighton, Pa./Lehighton Area) converted 16 saves in the setback for Cedar Crest.
The Rangers had a 26-4 advantage in shots and had 17 penalty corners to the Falcons' zero.
Cedar Crest (2-3 overall) will remain home to host Bridgewater College on Saturday, September 14 at 11:30 a.m. Drew (4-1 overall) returns home to play host to Widener University on Saturday at noon.
