ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College soccer team was defeated by Manhattanville University, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon at the FalconPlex on Senior Day.

Prior to the match, the program honored its six seniors: Linsey Nester (Mohrsville, Pa./Hamburg), Grace Nieman (Mount Airy, Md./South Carroll), Madison Balliet (Palmerton, Pa./Palmerton Area), Kayla Reiter (Emmaus, Pa./Northwestern Lehigh), Abril Riley (Levittown, Pa./Harry S. Truman), and MacKayla Reed (Duncansville, Pa./Hollidaysburg Area Senior) in a special ceremony.

The Valiants netted a pair of goals in the first half, the first coming in the 35th minute off the foot of senior Mia Castaneda (Mamaroneck, N.Y.) with the assist going to sophomore Kailey Roxo (Seymour, Conn.). The visitors added another in the 40th minute after first-year Drita Tinaj (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) set up classmate Johanna Gibson (Brooklyn, N.Y.) for her first marker of the season.

Manhattanville registered an insurance tally in the 53rd minute as senior Kelly Barrera (Port Chester, N.Y.) found the back of the net, with the helper going to Roxo.

Junior Macey Girard (Branford, Conn.) picked up the win in goal for the Valiants, making one save in 57:12. First-year Alexa Bennett (Sparrowbush, N.Y.) played the final 32: 48 and converted three saves.

Junior Bella Bozen (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township) recorded 10 saves in the setback for Cedar Crest.

Manhattanville had a 24-7 advantage in shots and had two corner kicks to the Falcons' zero. Nester led the Falcons with three shots, Riley had two, while first-year Lizzy DeNunzio (Easton, Pa./Easton Area) and graduate student Olivia Kelly (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) had one apiece.

Cedar Crest (0-2-1 overall) will return to action on Wednesday, September 18 at John Jay College. Kick-off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Manhattanville (1-1-2 overall) opens conference play with its next match, which will take place on Tuesday, September 17 at home against the United States Merchant Marine Academy at 7:00 p.m.
