NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Cedar Crest College soccer team collected its first victory of the season with a 1-0 shutout of John Jay College on Wednesday night.
Despite being outshot 21-3, the Falcons notched the lone goal of the contest in the 23
rd minute off the foot of graduate student
Olivia Kelly (Medford, N.J./Shawnee). That 1-0 lead held for the remainder of the contest and Cedar Crest would hang on for the triumph.
The Bloodhounds had 10 corner kicks to the Falcons' two.
Junior
Bella Bozen (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township) secured the shutout win in goal for Cedar Crest, making 11 saves. First-year Gianna Duarte (Bronx, N.Y.) converted a pair saves in the loss for John Jay.
Cedar Crest (1-2-1 overall) will be idle for a week and will next host York College (N.Y.) on Wednesday, September 25 at 4:00 p.m. John Jay (1-3-1 overall) will hit the road for a match at Rutgers-Camden on Saturday, September 21 at 12:30 p.m.
