ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College soccer team cruised to a 4-0 win over York College (NY) on Wednesday afternoon at the FalconPlex.
The Falcons netted its first goal of the contest in the 31
st minute after seniors
Kayla Reiter (Emmaus, Pa./Northwestern Lehigh) and
Abril Riley (Levittown, Pa./Harry S. Truman) set up first-year
Lizzy DeNunzio (Easton, Pa./Easton Area) for her first goal of the season. In the 41
st minute senior
MacKayla Reed (Duncansville, Pa./Hollidaysburg Area Senior) found the back of the net on a penalty kick to make the score 2-0 for the Cedar Crest. DeNunzio scored her second goal of the game off an assist from junior
Lauren Davis (Oley, Pa./Oley Valley) in the 43
nd minute of play to make the score 3-0 and the Falcons would carry that lead into the half.
DeNunzio capped off her hat trick in the 51
st minute. Davis was credited with the helper.
The Falcons outshot the Cardinals, 21-0 and had nine corner kicks while York had 0.
Sophomore
Stephanie Macaluso (Kendall Park, N.J./South Brunswick) did not face a shot in goal in the win for Cedar Crest. First-year Michelle Mancuso recorded six saves in the loss for the Cardinals.
Cedar Crest (2-2-1 overall) will open United East Conference play at home against Bryn Athyn College on Saturday, September 28 at 11:00 a.m. York (1-4-0 overall) will stay on the road for a match at Penn State Abington on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
