READING, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College field hockey team suffered a 4-0 defeat to Albright College on Wednesday night at Gene L. Shirk Stadium.
After a scoreless first quarter, the Lions recorded two goals in the second stanza. Sophomore Aliza Langlois (Millville, N.J.) netted the initial marker of the contest at 17:47 and then first-year Hannah Mitchell (Marysville, Pa.) set up senior Chelsea Johnson (Dover, Del.) at 28:42 for the 2-0 advantage.
Johnson tacked on another in the third quarter at 32:02 off an assist from sophomore Lillian Tuffy (York, Pa.) and then senior Olivia Lorah (Walnutport, Pa.) closed the scoring with a marker at 44:33 for the 4-0 final.
Albright held a 24-0 advantage in shots and had 14 penalty corners to the Falcons' one.
First-year Kelsey McTaggart (Lancaster County, Pa.) picked up the shutout win in goal for the Lions, not facing a shot. Sophomore
Shelby Heater (Lehighton, Pa./Lehighton Area) recorded 12 saves in the setback.
Cedar Crest (2-5 overall) will continue its road trip on Wednesday, September 25 at Wilkes University at 7:00 p.m. Albright (2-4 overall) travels to take on Penn State Harrisburg in its next contest on Saturday, September 21 at noon.
