EDWARDSVILLE, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College field hockey team picked up a 2-0 road victory at Wilkes University on Wednesday night at Schmidt Stadium.
The Falcons got on the scoreboard when junior
Kylah Demarest (Vernon, N.J./Vernon Township) found the back of the cage at 10:27. The assist went to classmate
Avery Daku (Northampton, Pa./Catasauqua) as Cedar Crest went up 1-0.
After a scoreless second quarter, the Falcons added another goal at 40:35 from the stick of sophomore
Reagan Ferst (Hazleton, Pa./Hazleton Area) as she deposited a shot from the middle of the circle. It marked her first collegiate goal.
The 2-0 score would hold for the remainder of the contest and the Falcons would get back in the win column.
Wilkes held a slim 9-7 advantage in shots and had 10 penalty corners to Cedar Crest's seven.
Sophomore
Shelby Heater (Lehighton, Pa./Lehighton Area) made eight saves in the win for the Falcons while sophomore Olivia Wickel (Whitehall, Pa.) collected three saves in the setback for the Colonels.
Cedar Crest (3-5 overall) will next play at Hood College on Saturday, September 28 at 2:00 p.m. Wilkes (2-7 overall) resumes conference play on Saturday in a home date with Susquehanna University at 4:00 p.m.
