ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College field hockey team earned a 3-0 victory over Eastern Mennonite University on Saturday afternoon in a non-conference game at the FalconPlex.
The Falcons netted a pair of goals in the first quarter. Junior
Olivia Wanner (Lyons, Pa./Kutztown Area) put Cedar Crest on the board at 13:43, coming off an assist from sophomore
Reagan Ferst (Hazleton, Pa./Hazleton Area). The home team found the back of the net just over a minute later when Wanner set up sophomore
Sydney Jeker (Sciota, Pa./Pleasant Valley) for her second goal of the season at 14:44.
After a scoreless second and third quarters, the Falcons scored once more when Jeker registered another goal, this time set up by junior
Kylah Demarest (Vernon, N.J./Vernon Township) at 59:51 for the 3-0 final.
Cedar Crest dominated the shot category, 18-3, and had 15 penalty corners to the Royals' one.
Sophomore
Shelby Heater (Lehighton, Pa./Lehighton Area) was awarded the win in goal for the Falcons, not facing a shot. Sophomore Gracyn Aruda (Richmond, Va.) collected eight saves in the loss for Eastern Mennonite.
Cedar Crest (2-2 overall) will remain home for a non-league game against Drew University on Wednesday, September 11 at 7:00 p.m. Eastern Mennonite (0-4 overall) travels to Hood College on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. for its next game.
