Bozen Records Season-High 20 Saves in Soccer's Setback to Penn State Berks

ALLENTOWN, Pa. — The Cedar Crest College soccer team was taken down by Penn State Berks, 2-1, in a United East Conference match on Saturday at the FalconPlex.

The Falcons began the match with a strong defensive effort from senior Bella Bozen (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township), who saved multiple early attempts at goal. Cedar Crest took the lead in the 13th minute when first-year Amiyah Carroll (Severn, Md./Old Mill Senior) scored her third goal of the season. Despite several offensive opportunities for the Nittany Lions, including a goal by sophomore Isabelle Wilkes (Hamburg, Pa.) in the 39th minute, the period concluded with the teams tied at 1-1.

The Falcons' defense, led by Bozen, was active throughout the second half, recording multiple saves against a persistent Penn State Berks offense. The visitors managed to break through with a goal by senior Maya Dolan (Quarryville, Pa.) in the 72nd, assisted by Wilkes. The Falcons attempted to respond with shots from Carroll and first-year Morgan Kreibick (Philadelphia, Pa./Franklin Towne Charter), but both were saved by senior Sophia Gonzalez (Ephrata, Pa.).

Bozen made an impressive 20 saves, keeping the opposition at bay despite facing 22 shots. Carroll scored the team's only goal. Kreibick registered one shot that was on target, contributing to the offensive efforts. Senior Lauren Davis (Oley, Pa./Oley Valley) also added an attempt on goal.

Gonzalez tallied three saves in the win for Penn State Berks.

Cedar Crest (3-10-0 overall, 2-4-0 United East) concludes the regular season on Sunday, October 26 at home against Penn College starting at noon.
