ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College lacrosse team blanked SUNY Old Westbury 19-0 at the FalconPlex on Saturday afternoon on Senior Day.
The Falcons came out of the gate hot, outscoring the Panthers 9-0 in the first quarter. Senior
Maddie Graham (Clayton, Del./Smyrna) registered a hat trick in the frame. The other goals came from junior
Kylah Demarest (Vernon, N.J./Vernon Township), senior
Brynn Rifino (Dover, Del./Smyrna), junior
Ellie Terranova (Wilmington, Del./Mount Pleasant), sophomore
Kadee Schrader (Northampton, Pa./Northampton Area), senior
Rachel Bilger (Philadelphia, Pa./Upper Dublin), and senior
Ashley Large (Parker, Colo./Regis Jesuit) tallied a goal each in the period.
Cedar Crest added five more in the second with five different goal scorers. Senior
Abi Sipel (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom), Terranova, Graham, Demarest, and
Lauren Jackson (Ambler, Pa./Wissahickon) were the recipients of the markers as the Falcons stretched its lead to 14-0 at the half.
The home team netted three in the third as Demarest, Graham, and Terranova had one goal apiece to increase the score to 17-0.
Cedar Crest then closed the fourth with a pair of goals in the last quarter. Demarest and Graham were awarded the goal to close the contest with the 19-0 final.
Sophomore
Irelyn Yoder (Wilmington, Del./Concord) collected 10 saves in the win for the Falcons. Junior Jara Gonzalez made two saves in the loss for SUNY Old Westbury.
Graham guided the Falcons with nine points on six goals and three assists. Demarest had eight points on four goals and four assists. Schrader followed with five points on one goal and four assists. Terranova recorded a hat trick with three goals. Jackson, Large, Rifino, Sipel, and Bilger rounded out the scoring column with one goal apiece while first-year
Angelina Plut (Blairstown, N.J./North Warren Regional) and sophomore
Carly Piciullo (Brick, N.J./Brick Memorial) had one assist each.
Cedar Crest picked up 23 ground balls in the game. Piciullo and Bilger led the way with four each. Terranova and Sipel followed with three apiece. Jackson and Large each registered two. Graham, Demarest, Rifino, and sophomore
Jessica Shults (Staten Island, N.Y./New Dorp) tallied each had one.
The Falcons also had six caused turnovers. Terranova paced the team with two, while Bilger, Jackson, Large, and Graham recorded one.
Cedar Crest registered 14 draw controls. Terranova had a game-high six, Demarest followed with four, Graham tallied three, and Sipel closed out the category with one.
Cedar Crest (3-2 overall) will next host Bryn Mawr College on Wednesday, March 26 at 6:30 p.m. SUNY Old Westbury (0-2 overall) will begin conference play with its next game at home against Purchase College on Friday, March 28 at 3:30 p.m.
