BELLEROSE, N.Y. – The Cedar Crest College softball team showcased an impressive performance in a doubleheader sweep of York College (N.Y.), securing victories of 24-0 and 16-0 at Padavan-Preller Field on Friday. The Falcons' offense was relentless throughout both games, accumulating a staggering 40 runs on 28 hits, aided by 12 walks and multiple hit-by-pitches, while their pitching staff dominated, allowing just three hits combined and recording multiple strikeouts.
Game One – Cedar Crest 24, York College (N.Y.) 0 (Five Innings)
Cedar Crest opened with a commanding 10-run first inning. The scoring began with walks, followed by junior
Laney Ferraro (Philadelphia, Pa./New Foundations Charter), senior
Alexis Kline (Allentown, Pa./Lehigh Valley Academy Regional Charter), and first-year
Kylie Mastillo (Moscow, Pa./North Pocono) reaching base, leading to RBI from first-year
Abby Adams (Suffolk, Va./Lakeland) and senior
Alex Mullen (Prospect Park, Pa./Interboro). Key plays included a series of walks and hit-by-pitches, highlighted by Kline's two-RBI single. The Falcons extended their lead to 13-0 by the third inning, with junior
Natalie Hasert (Vernon, N.J./Vernon Township) scoring on a fielder's choice and Adams hitting a triple that brought in two more runs.
The fourth inning saw a seven-run outburst, initiated by junior
Taylor Faw's (Glen Burnie, Md./Glen Burnie) walk. Consecutive hits and strategic base running capitalized on the Cardinals' errors, with Adams contributing a two-RBI single and sophomore
Brooke Trentler (Whiteford, Md./North Harford) adding another RBI single. Cedar Crest concluded the game in the fifth inning, scoring four additional runs, including a double by Mastillo and another two-RBI double by Adams. The final score was 24-0, with Adams leading the Falcons with an incredible seven RBI, including a double and a triple in her 3-for-4 outing. Ferraro had five runs scored and two RBI while Kline added three RBI and two runs.
In contrast, senior
BB Aquila (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) pitched a complete game shutout, allowing no hits and striking out six while walking two in the no-hitter performance. York first-year Mulazia Woods (Far Rockaway, N.Y.) struggled, pitching only two-thirds of an inning, giving up eight earned runs on six walks and two hit batsmen, while sophomore Ayana Saavedra (Brooklyn, N.Y.) relieved her and allowed 13 hits and 11 earned runs in 4.1 innings.
Game Two – Cedar Crest 16, York College 0 (Five Innings)
Game two saw Cedar Crest continue their dominant display, amassing 15 hits, including five triples. The Falcons opened the scoring with an Adams triple in the second inning, followed by Trentler's triple, bringing Adams home for the first run. The third inning marked a significant extension of their lead, starting with junior
Mackenzie Pickard's (Levittown, Pa./Philadelphia Academy Charter) walk and stolen base, followed by Hasert's RBI triple. A series of hits, including a two-RBI single by Ferraro and another two-RBI single by Faw, allowed Cedar Crest to score eight runs, ending the inning with a 9-0 lead.
The fourth inning saw Ferraro double and later score on a single by Adams, with a fielding error contributing to another run, pushing the lead to 11-0. Cedar Crest kept their scoring streak alive in the fifth inning, highlighted by a triple from Ferraro that brought in two more runs, eventually leading to a 16-0 victory.
Hasert led the Falcons in the second game with three hits and three RBI, including two triples. Ferraro also had a standout performance with three runs, three hits, and four RBI, featuring a double and a triple. Faw contributed with two hits and four RBI.

Alexis Acevedo (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom) pitched a complete game shutout, allowing just three hits while striking out nine and walking one. In contrast, Saavedra of the Cardinals faced challenges, giving up 15 hits and 16 runs, 14 of which were earned, over 4.2 innings.
Sophomore Samantha Panameno (Richmond Hill, Queens) paced York in game two, going 2-for-2 at the dish.
Up next, Cedar Crest (8-12 overall) opens conference play at home against Gallaudet University on March 29 in a doubleheader starting at 1:00 p.m. York (3-7 overall) will stay at home to host Baruch College in a twinbill on Friday, April 4 beginning at 3:00 p.m.
