ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College lacrosse team was topped by Bryn Athyn College, 15-9, in a United East Conference matchup on Tuesday night at the FalconPlex.
The Lions notched the first two goals of the game and then the Falcons got on the board with a goal by junior
Ellie Terranova (Wilmington, Del./Mount Pleasant) at the 10:36 mark of the opening quarter. The assist on the Cedar Crest goal went to senior
Abi Sipel (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom). Bryn Athyn tallied the next four goals to build a 6-1 advantage.
The Falcons then netted four of the next five goals to trim the margin to two. Sipel, senior
Maddie Graham (Clayton, Del./Smyrna), and junior
Kylah Demarest (Vernon, N.J./Vernon Township) registered markers on the run as Cedar Crest cut the margin to two, 7-5, with 12:16 to play in the third.
After the Falcons made the score 9-8 following a goal by Demarest with 6:23 left in the third, the Lions closed the game on a 6-1 run for the 15-9 final.
Junior Chloe Munyon (Bensalem, Pa.) secured the win in goal for Bryn Athyn, making seven saves. Sophomore
Irelyn Yoder (Wilmington, Del./Concord) converted 17 saves in the loss for Cedar Crest.
Graham tallied four points on three goals and one assist to lead the Falcons. Sophomore
Kadee Schrader (Northampton, Pa./Northampton Area) also had two points, picking up a pair of goals and two assists. Demarest had a pair of goals. Terranova and Sipel recorded two points on a goal and one assist.
Sophomore Adrianna Storck (Philadelphia, Pa.) collected a game-high five points on three goals and two assists for the Lions.
Demarest guided Cedar Crest with three ground balls. Senior
Lauren Jackson (Ambler, Pa./Wissahickon) had a team-high three caused turnovers. Sipel recorded a team-high four draw controls.
Cedar Crest (4-4 overall, 1-1 United East) will face Trinity Washington University on the road on Thursday, April 10 at 3:30 p.m. Bryn Athyn (7-2 overall, 2-0 United East) stays on the road for a non-conference game at Bryn Mawr College on Saturday, April 12 at 1:00 p.m.
