Soccer Drops Match to Bryn Mawr, 3-0

BRYN MAWR, Pa. — The Cedar Crest College soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to Bryn Mawr College at Applebee Field on Wednesday.

The first half saw a strong defensive effort from the Falcons, highlighted by senior Bella Bozen's (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township) five saves, including crucial stops in the opening minutes against Owls' senior Sarah Walker (Bridgewater, N.J.) and junior Ciara Grimes (Port Orange, Fla.). First-year Ciara Lalor (Bowling Green, Ohio) managed to break through in the 36th minute to score the half's only goal. Senior Lauren Davis (Oley, Pa./Oley Valley) created an offensive opportunity with a corner kick at 16:58, but the team was unable to capitalize before the halftime whistle.

In the second half, sophomore Beatriz Da Silva (Rockville, Md.) and junior Lourdes Sankar (Austin, Texas) both added goals to extend the home team's lead. Cedar Crest's defense, anchored by Bozen, made crucial saves at the 56th, 57th, and 68th minutes to prevent further scoring. On the offensive side, first-years Amiyah Carroll (Severn, Md./Old Mill Senior) and Laila Stevenson (Sayreville, N.J./Sayreville War Memorial) each managed shots on goal, though they were ultimately saved by Bryn Mawr's first-year goalkeeper, Lily Blackman (Zionville, Ill.).

Bozen recorded 10 saves over 90 minutes, facing 13 shots and conceding three goals. Stevenson managed one shot and placed it on goal, contributing to the offensive effort. Davis also registered a shot on goal, matching Stevenson's performance in the attack. Carroll added to the team's attempts with one shot on goal.

Blackman recorded a clean sheet, making three saves over 90 minutes in the 3-0 victory, contributing to her shutout tally. Sankar capitalized on her sole opportunity, scoring a goal with her only shot on goal. Da Silva was active in the attack, scoring once and leading the team with six shots, placing three on target. Lalor also found the back of the net and delivered a game-winning goal, registering five shots total with three on goal. Junior Michaela Gwozdz (Metuchen, N.J.) provided an assist, marking her contribution in the team's offensive success.

Cedar Crest (0-2-0 overall) will stay on the road to face Immaculata University. The match is set for Saturday, September 6 at 2:30 p.m. Bryn Mawr (3-0-0 overall) remains home to play host to Hood College on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
