CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — The Cedar Crest College volleyball team defeated Wilson College, 3-1, (25-18, 25-21, 23-25, 27-25) on Tuesday evening at Gannett Field House. The Falcons used an 8-0 run in the fourth set after trailing 20-15 to help close out the match.

Taylor Friel's (Nazareth, Pa/Nazareth Area) serve gave Cedar Crest early separation in the first set, as the Falcons scored five straight points from 1-1 to 6-1 with Friel delivering four service aces and first-years
Gabby Manygoats (Bloomfield, N.M./Navajo Preparatory School) and
Kylie Heffner (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus) combining on a block. The Phoenix later scored to make it 11-7, but Cedar Crest kept adding sideout points and finished the set at 25-18 on a block by first-year
Autumn Clewell (Lehighton, Pa./Lehighton Area) and sophomore
Kayla Duenkel (Central Square, N.Y./Bishop Grimes).
The Falcons created separation in the second set during Friel's service turn, scoring four straight points from 11-10 to 15-10 behind three Friel aces and a Manygoats kill. Cedar Crest later reached 24-16 on Clewell's service ace. Wilson scored five straight before the Falcons closed out the set, 25-21, on a Phoenix attack error.
Cedar Crest nearly erased a six-point deficit in the third set, moving from 16-10 down to 17-16 with kills from Manygoats, first-year
Gloria Slavik (Key West, Fla./Basilica), Duenkel and Heffner and two blocks involving Duenkel. The Falcons kept pushing late and tied the set at 22-22 when Slavik and Manygoats combined on a block. Wilson took three of the final four points to finish the set, 25-23.
Cedar Crest erased a 20-15 deficit in the fourth set with eight straight points, moving ahead 23-20 during Heffner's service turn. The stretch included kills by sophomore
Samantha Fitzpatrick (Royse City, Texas/Community) and Friel, blocks involving Duenkel and Friel, and a Heffner ace. After the Phoenix tied it at 24 and again at 25, Manygoats and Heffner delivered the final two kills for the Falcons to close out a 27-25 set.
Duenkel led Cedar Crest with 12 kills, hit .667, and added eight blocks for 17.5 points. Friel recorded nine service aces, 18 digs, and 17 points. Heffner collected 20 digs, seven kills and three aces. Clewell finished with a team-high 23 assists and added two aces.
First-year Hannah Pollard (Wilmington, N.C.) paced Wilson with 14 kills, 16.5 points, and three total blocks while hitting .346. First-year Jayda Lichty (Hanover, Pa.) added 12 kills, 10 digs, and 13 points. First-year Sydney Tracey (York, Pa.) finished with 28 assists, 15 digs, and three service aces. Senior Addie Hebert (Gettysburg, Pa.) recorded a team-high 26 digs and added four assists.
Cedar Crest (4-11 overall, 1-3 United East) will return home to begin a three-match homestand starting against Lancaster Bible College on Saturday, October 10 at 11:00 a.m. Wilson (1-15 overall, 0-3 United East) hosts St. Mary's College of Maryland for its next match on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
