Lacrosse Doubles Up Centenary, 12-6

ALLENTOWN, Pa. — The Cedar Crest College lacrosse team doubled up Centenary University in a 12-6 victory at FalconPlex on Wednesday. The Falcons' offense was led by seven assists, contributing to its overall record of 4-1.

The game began with the Falcons establishing control early on, with first-year Taylor Dotter (Northampton, Pa./Northampton Area) securing the opening draw. They capitalized on their possession as junior Kadee Schrader (Northampton, Pa./Northampton Area) scored the first goal of the game, assisted by junior Jessica Shults (Staten Island, N.Y./New Dorp), putting Cedar Crest ahead.

As the quarter progressed, the Falcons continued to apply pressure, with first-year Trinity Burk (Baltimore, Md./Patapsco High School & Center for the Arts) scoring a player-up goal late in the quarter. Sophomore Izzy Feddor (Northampton, Pa./Northampton Area) effectively defended the goal, making crucial saves to keep the Cyclones scoreless. The first frame concluded with Cedar Crest leading 2-0.

The Falcons opened the second quarter with a quick goal from Schrader, assisted by senior Ellie Terranova (Wilmington, Del./Mount Pleasant), at 13:46. They maintained momentum with Terranova scoring again shortly after, followed by a goal from Dotter, assisted by Schrader, extending the lead to 5-0.

Centenary responded with three consecutive goals, narrowing the gap to 5-3. Cedar Crest regained control with another goal from Dotter, assisted by Terranova, to close the quarter at 6-3.

The Falcons took control early in the third quarter with Shults finding the net, assisted by senior Kylah Demarest (Vernon, N.J./Vernon Township), at 14:15. This was followed by a successful draw control and goal by Dotter at 7:58, extending Cedar Crest's lead. Despite encountering turnovers, the Falcons capitalized on a turnover by the Cyclones, with Schrader scoring at 3:43, assisted by Burk.

Centenary responded late in the quarter with first-year Olivia Evans (Fair Lawn, N.J.) scoring at 1:11, assisted by junior Matalina Kratzel (Great Meadows, N.J.), and senior Nora Dornich (Belvidere, N.J.) adding another goal with just four seconds left on the clock. Cedar Crest maintained its lead, ending the quarter with a 9-5 advantage.

The Falcons began the fourth quarter by quickly capitalizing on a scoring opportunity, as Dotter found the net with an assist from sophomore Angelina Plut (Blairstown, N.J./North Warren Regional). This goal was promptly followed by a turnover recovery and draw control by Demarest, demonstrating Cedar Crest's aggressive strategy early in the quarter.

Though the Cyclones responded with a goal from senior Trista Hough (Branchville, N.J.) on a free position shot, the Falcons maintained their offensive pressure. Burk and Demarest each added to the scoreboard, extending the lead. Terranova played a crucial role in controlling the draw, ensuring Cedar Crest's continued possession.

Despite a few missed shots and turnovers, the Falcons kept the pace in the final minutes. The quarter closed with Cedar Crest leading 12-6, successfully expanding its advantage and maintaining the defensive edge.
