LANGHORNE, Pa. — The Cedar Crest College tennis team lost to Cairn University 7-0 on Saturday afternoon in United East Conference play.
Cedar Crest dropped the doubles point with losses on all courts. Juniors
Cam Beverage (Taylor, Pa./Riverside) and
Grace Huff (Pottsville, Pa./Pottsville Area) fell short at No. 1 doubles with a 6-1 result. At second doubles, first-year
Jade Wilson () and graduate student
Gracelynn Pauley (New Oxford, Pa./South Western) were defeated 6-0, while senior
Megan Perrine (Mount Vision, N.Y./Gilbertsville-Mount Upton) and sophomore
Ella Bincarosky (Coopersburg, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic) came close but ultimately lost 7-5 at No. 3 doubles.
In singles play, Beverage was defeated 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles. Pauley also encountered difficulties at second singles, ending 6-0 and 6-0. Wilson's match at No. 3 singles concluded with a 6-0, 6-0 scoreline, and Bincarosky fell 6-0, 6-0 at fourth singles.
Perrine delivered a competitive performance at fifth singles, taking the second set to a tiebreak before narrowly missing out in a 6-4, 7-6 (5) defeat. The Falcons did not compete at No. 6 singles, resulting in a default.
Looking forward, Cedar Crest (0-5 overall, 0-3 United East) will host Lancaster Bible College on Tuesday March 31, at 1:00 p.m. Cairn (3-4 overall, 3-0 United East) will be on the road to face St. Mary's College of Maryland on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m.
