Cedar Crest College Athletics

ALLENTOWN, Pa. — The Cedar Crest College soccer team lost to the City College of New York, 4-3, on Saturday afternoon at the FalconPlex. The Falcons finished with 15 shots and seven shots on goal, while first-year Sarah Parsons (Brimfield, Mass./Tantasqua Regional) recorded 11 saves.

Cedar Crest answered the Beavers' goal with sophomore Amiyah Carroll's (Severn, Md./Old Mill Senior) finish at in the 30th minute, tying the first half at 1-1. Parsons preserved that score with a save on first-year Yesenia Yascaribay (Queens, N.Y.) at 33:24 as CCNY created several looks after the equalizer. The Falcons generated two late shots on goal, with senior Avery Kramer's (Blandon, Pa./Fleetwood Area) header and sophomore Morgan Kreibick (Philadelphia, Pa./Franklin Towne Charter)'s shot saved before the half ended 1-1.

Cedar Crest twice erased one-goal deficits in the second half, with Carroll scoring from Kreibick's assist in the 63rd minute to make it 2-2 and Kreibick finishing Carroll's feed in the 81st minute to make it 3-3. Between those goals, the Falcons created two Carroll corner kicks and three shots, including Kreibick's attempt in the 73rd minute that was stopped by a defensive save. The Beavers answered Kreibick's equalizer on sophomore Larisa Hodzic (New York, N.Y.)'s goal in the 83rd minute for the 4-3 final. 

Carroll scored two goals, added an assist and led the Falcons with four shots. Kreibick finished with a goal and an assist while putting all three of her shots on goal. 

Senior Sara Rodriguez (Staten Island, N.Y.) scored twice on five shots and put three attempts on goal for CCNY. Yascaribay scored and led the visitors with seven shots, including five on goal. Hodzic converted her lone shot and was credited with the game-winning goal. Graduate student Jade Salas (Queens, N.Y.) made three saves over 90 minutes.

Up next, the Falcons (0-3-0 overall) will travel to face Saint Elizabeth University on Monday, September 14 at 4:00 p.m. The City College of New York (1-3-0 overall) will next host Maritime College on Wednesday, September 16 at 7:00 p.m.
