CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Graduate student Ryley Schwalm (Pottsville, Pa./North Schuylkill) captured the individual title in her debut with the Cedar Crest College cross country team as the Falcons placed sixth at the DeSales University Invitational on Saturday.

Schwalm crossed the finish line first overall in a time of 23:10.04, marking the fastest 6K time in program history, besting Angelina Biondo's time of 23:21 set back in 2017.  

Junior Giada Smith (Springtown, Pa./Palisades) was the second to finish for Cedar Crest, taking 34^th in a time of 27:17.4.

The Falcons' next three runners placed in succession as first-year Alicia Cruz (Easton, Pa./Wilson Area), first-year Carly Dachenhausen (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown Community), and senior Emily Matoushek (Waymart, Pa./Forest City Regional) clocked times of 30:12.6, 30:17.7, and 31:19.0, respectively.

Junior Abby Adams (Suffolk, Va./Lakeland) was the final participant in the field for Cedar Crest, registering a time of 36:43.2.

Cedar Crest will next compete at the Paul Short Run at Lehigh University on Friday, October 2 at 10:15 a.m. and the Highlander Invitational at Cairn University on Saturday, October 3 at 11:00 a.m.
