Rodenberger, Samite, Gill Each Score, Falcons Fall to Panthers

Allentown, PA

The Cedar Crest College lacrosse team welcomed non-conference opponent Purchase College to campus this evening in women's lacrosse action.

In the first half, Emily Rodenberger (Pennsburg, PA/Upper Perkiomen High School) would catch a Vivianna pass to her first goal of the game as the Falcons would cut the early Panther lead in half.  But Purchase would connect on three straight goals to run up the score 5-1.  Sophomore Attack Regina Gill (Hellertown, PA/Saucon Valley High School) would then go the full length of the field and in typical fashion score on an unassisted run scoring her first goal of the game and putting the Falcons down by just three.  Purchase would add two more in the first before once again Gill would strike again on another full field run.  Vivianna Samite (Oakridge, NJ/Jefferson Twp) would add her first goal of the game in the first with just over six minutes remaining and put the Falcons behind the Panthers by just three, but once again the Panthers would add two more goals and find themselves up 9-4.  To close out the first half, Emily Rodenberger (Pennsburg, PA/Upper Perkiomen High School) would add two more goals less than sixty seconds apart and send the two teams into half time with the Panthers leading 11-6.

The second half would see a strong Panther defense come out and hold the Falcons scoreless for the final thirty minutes and take the game 22-6.

As a team the Falcons would collect 28 groundballs and 13 draw controls while finishing with seven Free-Position Shots.  The Falcons would also finish just over 50 % on clears for the day going 5-9.

Individually for the Falcons, Emily Rodenberger (Pennsburg, PA/Upper Perkiomen High School) would lead all Falcons with three goals, while Gill would add two and Samite one.  Gill would lead all with five draw controls, while senior Kim Barry (Greentown, PA/Wallenpaupack Area) would add four and 10 groundballs to finish for a game high.  In goal, Nicole Rivera (Bronx, NY/Eximius High School) would add 10 saves on the day, pushing her season total to 108 for the season.
