The Cedar Crest College softball team took to the road in another CSAC showdown. Â After playing a CSAC double header against Keystone on Friday evening, the Falcons had to rebound quickly in order to challenge the 2014 playoff team in the Pacers.
In game one, it would come down to within one run between the two teams. Â
The Pacers would score in both the top half of the third and fourth innings while Falcons pitcher
Amanda Kustanbauter (Muncy, PA/Muncy High School) would hold the Pacers to just three hits over six innings of work. Â
In the top of the seventh the Falcons would make their move.Freshman
Kaylee Martinez (Hemet, CA/West Valley) would reach on an error by the Pacers short stop and the Falcons would have their first base runner of the inning. Â
Alexis Baxter (Clifton Springs, NY/Phelps-Clifton Springs) would ground out to the catcher as the Pacers would record the first out of the seventh. Â Martinez would steal second, and with a runner in scoring position, pitcher
Amanda Kustanbauter (Muncy, PA/Muncy High School) would help their own cause, singling to left field and scoring Martinez from second. Â
Molly Schnaubelt (San Diego, CA/University City) would reach on fielder's choice and Kustanbauter would reach second on an error by the Pacers second baseman. Â
Rachel Stump (Fleetwood, PA/Fleetwood) would come up and with two on and one out, she would ground out into a game ending double play.
The Falcons would fall in game one 2-1.
Game two would be completely different for the Falcons. Â Led by
Kaylee Martinez (Hemet, CA/West Valley) and
Molly Schnaubelt (San Diego, CA/University City) the Falcons would collect 12 hits and 11 runs, dominating the Pacers winning 11-2 easily in six innings. Â As a team, the Falcons would score in every inning except the fourth, scoring three in the first, one in the second, two in the third and then five runs in the final two innings.
Pitcher
April Daly (Burlington, NJ/Holy Cross High School) would help her own cause collecting two hits snd scoring one run. Â While on the mound she would go six innings while allowing eight hits and just two runs.
With the split, the Falcons improve to 7-15 overall and 6-8 in the CSAC and will travel to Centenary tomorrow for another CSAC showdown.
