Box Score 2 GWYNEED MERCY, Pa. --- The Cedar Crest College volleyball team competed in a tri-match at Gwyneed Mercy University falling to host school and conference opponent, 3-0 by scores of 26-24, 25-19, 25-14 and then taking one set but also dropping the second match, 3-1, taking the first set 25-20, then dropping the next three with scores of 25-13, 25-14, 25-15 to New Jersey City University on Saturday afternoon.
"Today did not show our best game but we were able to play better in the second game," commented Head Coach
Shelby Morgan. "We were unable to top NJCU offensively, as injuries hurt us in our line up, but our girls kept playing and we will continue to make adjustments."
In the first game against Gwynedd Mercy, senior outside hitter
Ericka Clayton led the team in kills with eight, adding three service aces, and 12 digs. Sophomore outside hitter
Molly Schnaubelt contributed six kills and two service aces while junior opposite hitter
Maggie Olock had two kills and three assists.
Sophomore defensive specialist
Kaylee Martinez had a team-high of 22 digs as junior setter
Celina Danish paced the Falcons with 13 assists. Senior
Kimlynn Tran had a team-high of five service aces.
Against NJCU,
Olock would take the lead offensively with seven kills, one service ace and six digs.
Clayton had five kills and a tying team-high of 10 digs while defenisve specialist
LaShawndalese Johnson had two kills for eht Falcons.
Danish contributed three service aces and 14 assists.
Schnaubelt had four service acesand while
Martinez had 10 digs and
Tran had two assists.
Cedar Crest has its next game at home on Sunday, September 27 at 11:00 a.m. in Lees Gymnasium against non-conference Penn State Scranton-Worthington.
