NEWBURGH, N.Y.---The Cedar Crest College women's lacrosse team began its 2016 season in a 16-0 loss to Mount Saint Mary College away at Kaplan Field Wednesday evening.
Senior goalkeeper Nicole Rivera (Bronx, NY/Eximius ) made 10 saves for Cedar Crest while junior midfielder Regina Gill (Hellertown, PA/Saucon Valley ) led the squad with three ground balls, two caused turnovers and one draw control. Senior midfielder Gerlie Loyola (Manorville, NY/Eastport South Manor Jr/Sr ) picked up three ground balls, two draw controls and one caused turnover as freshman attack Shleby Szoke and Alexandra Zoda (Poughkeepsie, N.Y. /Roy C Ketcham Senior ) both picked up one ground ball a piece.
Senior attack Vivianna Samite (Oakridge, NJ/Jefferson Twp) had the only shot for the Falcons that went just wide while also grabbing one ground ball on the night. Freshman midfielder Kassandra Miller (Fallington, Pa./Pensbury Senior ) had one caused turnover and junior Ellen Hill (Madison, N.H./Kennett) had one draw control for Cedar Crest.
The Falcons will host their first home contests of the year on Friday, March 4 in a match against Wilkes University at 4:00 p.m.
