ASTON, Pa. --- The Cedar Crest College softball team fell to undefeated Neumann University in two close games by scores of 4-2 and 6-4 in a Colonial States Athletic Conference match up Monday afternoon.
In game one, a tight two innings kept both teams scoreless as the only base runner for the Knights was picked off on a stolen base attempt. The Falcons started the third inning with a bunt for a single for sophomore outfielder
Lily Acosta (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty ). Sophomore outfielder
Jackie Gallagher (Fort Worth, TX/Keller Central ) singled to second base, later Acosta would steal third. Freshman outfielder
Kelly Reading (Taunton, MA/Taunton) bunted for an RBI single advancing on the throw to second to take 1-0 lead to end the inning.
Trailing 3-1 in the sixth,
Reading led off with a single to right field and would later steal second. Sophomore shortstop
Kaylee Martinez (Hemet, CA/West Valley) was hit by a pitch and later both runners advanced on a play and
Reading would steal home on error to bring the score to 3-2 in favor of the Knights. In the sixth inning the home team added another run that the Falcons couldn't match.
In game two, the Knights jumped out to an early lead as the Falcons faced a 6-0 deficit by the end of the second inning. The runs would stop their though and the first run for the Black and Yellow came in top of the third.
Reading singled and would later steal second and single by freshman third basemen

Top of the fifth began with a single through the right side by
Acosta. An error allowed
Martinez to reach first while both runners would later advance on a wild pitch. A throwing error on the next batter allowed both runs to score as the Falcons now trailed 6-3.
Hoping to close the gap in the sixth, freshman pitcher
Laura Rau (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus) doubled to right center to start the inning.
Acosta singled through the right side and later stole second. The runners both stole their next bases to make the score 6-4 ending the inning and in the final up the team left one on base unable to cut the lead.
The next softball game is on Tuesday, April 19 at 3:00 p.m. at Cabrini College in a Colonial States Athletic Conference match up.
