CHANDLER, Ariz. – The National Field Hockey Coaches Association has announced its National Academic Squad which includes all student-athletes with a cumulative GPA or 3.3 or higher through the first semester with 1,604 student-athletes making the list and 148 schools with representation.
"We are very excited for the amount of team members earning this award," commented Head Coach
Kellina Yarrish. "Many earning this honor are first year members of the institution, and are academically taking on rigorous majors. As student-athletes, their schedules are quite demanding on and off the field. We are very proud of our team members earning this award, and congratulations to all student-athletes earning this honor."
Cedar Crest College field hockey has 10 student-athletes who meet that criteria. Including freshman midfielder
Madison Bowen ( Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg Area Senior) who is a nursing major, freshman defender
Alexis Domingo-Cowan (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) also a nursing major, senior midfielder
Hannah Gouck (Kintnersville, PA/Palisades) another nursing major, freshman forward
McKenna Hunt (Nazareth, Pa./Pen Argyl) who is studying nursing, freshman midfielder
Makenzie Kistler (Walnutport, Pa./Northampton) who is in the education program.
Continuing the list for the Falcons is junior midfielder
Elizabeth Lamm (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland) who is also in the nursing program, freshman defender
Alexx Miller (Mechanicsburg, Pa/Mechanicsburg Area) a nursing major, freshman goalkeeper
Cassandra Reijgers (Hollis, NH/Hollis Brookline) a social work major, senior defender
Rachel Stump (Fleetwood, PA/Fleetwood) an art therapy major and freshman defender
Autumn Wilhide (/Northeastern) who is a double-major in biodiversity and conservation biology and psychology.
The second award released by the association was the Scholars of Distinction, which you must have a cumulative GPA of 3.9 or higher through the first semester. A total of 208 student-athletes representing 103 different schools were recognized as Zag Field Hockey/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III Scholars of Distinction. The University of Maine at Farmington and Simmons College led all schools with six student-athletes receiving the Scholars of Distinction honor, while Cedar Crest College and Misericordia University each had five selections and four other schools notched four honorees.
