Box Score AURORA, N.Y.---The Cedar Crest College field hockey team improved to 2-1 on the season earning a win on the road at Wells College. The Falcons defeated The Express, 3-2, on Sunday afternoon.
"The girls transitioned really well today on attack, which is something we have been emphasizing in practices," stated Head Coach
Kellina Yarrish. "We held our composure and were successful with our pressing structure. Wells continued to fight back, so I was pleased that we could hold them off. I was impressed at how we connected as a team, and that our successes not only today, but this year have been a total team effort. I am looking forward to our home opener next weekend against women's college rival Sweet Briar."
The team jumped out quickly with an offensive attack, earning a corner six minutes into the game. That corner led to back-to-back shots, the first by sophomore midfielder
Mackenzie Kistler, the follow-up by freshman forward
Annalise Unger (Burlington, VT /Rice Memorial ), but both shots were saved. Four minutes later,
Unger made a move on the right side of the field to insert a pass to senior midfielder
Hannah Gouck (Kintnersville, PA/Palisades) who set up and fired a shot to put the Falcons up, 1-0. The team had a plethora of shots that the goalkeeper was in position to stop, while a defender was also able to prevent another Cedar Crest goal. In the 26
th minute the home team had an offensive surge, firing five shots, all of which sophomore goalkeeper

Gouck to blast another shot in the goal to take a 2-1 lead heading into halftime.

Kistler and
