ALLENTOWN, Pa. --- The Cedar Crest College Volleyball team opened the match with a win, but fell in the next three sets in loss to Mount Aloysius College on Saturday afternoon.
The Falcons are now 14-5 overall on the season, after claiming one set 25-15, they were unable to win another set, dropping the next three sets: 22-25, 16-25 and 17-25.
Cedar Crest had totaled 40 kills, 83 digs, 32 assists, nine blocks and six assists in the loss. Leading the Black and Yellow in kills was junior Nicole Hill (Parsippany, NJ/Parsippany), who downed 17 attacks. Sophomore Kailey Elrod (Annville, Pa./Palmyra Area) turned in a double-double with 11 kills and contributed a team-high 21 digs in the match. Hill and sophomore Elyse Podgurski (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) each earned four blocks in the contest while sophomore Tiffany Hoppes (Macungie, Pa./Emmaus) and freshman Britney Rivera (Flanders, N.J./Mount Olive) were also in double-figures in digs. Hoppes recorded 18 digs with Rivera adding 16 in the match. The two freshmen setters, Talia Watson (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton) and Madison Flatt (Reinholds, Pa./Cocalico) ended the contest with 10-plus assists, Watson had 17 helpers while Flatt added 10 assists.
Up next, the Volleyball squad will travel to Keystone College for a Colonial States Athletic Conference contest beginning at 7:00 PM on Tuesday evening.
