BALTIMORE, Md. --- The Cedar Crest Volleyball team lost their first match to the host Notre Dame of Maryland in five sets before taking down Christendom 3-1 in four sets Saturday afternoon.

In a hard-fought match, the Falcons were unable to hand the Gators their first loss in the Colonial States Athletic Conference, but Cedar Crest now falls to third in the CSAC at 4-2. The Black and Yellow then defeated Christendom to put their record at 15-7 overall.

In the match against the Gators, Cedar Crest kept them close in every set: 22-25, 25-17, 20-25, 25-20 and 11-15. The totals for the Falcons were 28 kills, 77 digs, 17 assists, 10 service aces and four blocks. Junior
Nicole Hill (Parsippany, NJ/Parsippany) was the kills leader with 10 and co-leader in blocks with three. Sophomore
Tiffany Hoppes (Macungie, Pa./Emmaus) recorded 27 digs and four aces for team-highs in the match while
Talia Watson (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton) posted 13 assists. Sophomore
Lindsey Davis (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth Area) and freshman
Britney Rivera (Flanders, N.J./Mount Olive) were also in double-figures in digs,
Davis with 18 and
Rivera with 11.

In the second match against the Crusaders, Christendom took the first set before Cedar Crest claimed the next three and the match for the 3-1 win: 22-25, 25-23, 25-20 and 26-24. Totals from the match, 43 kills, 128 digs, 38 assists, four aces and four assists.
Hill was the team leader in kills with 18 and team-high four blocks, while freshman
Mekayla Dela Cruz (Phillipsburg, N.J./Phillipsburg) recorded 11 kills. Freshman
Talia Watson (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton) assisted 33 of the 43 kills the Falcons earned in the match. Five separate Falcons were in double-figures in digs, led by
Hoppes with 33,
Madison Flatt (Reinholds, Pa./Cocalico) with 24, Maddy McGowan and
Rivera each added 18 and
Watson ended with 16 digs.

Cedar Crest returns to action on Tuesday, October 23 when they host Clarks Summit University in Lees Hall for a CSAC contest beginning at 7:00 PM.
