Falcons split tri-match at William Paterson

WAYNE, N.J. --- The Cedar Crest College Volleyball team dropped the first match to William Paterson, 3-2, before defeating John Jay 3-1 on Saturday afternoon at William Paterson.
 
The Falcons, now 7-3  on the year, suffered a loss to the host Pioneers, 2-3: 23-25, 25-20, 13-25, 25-20 and 12-15 and then took down the Bloodhounds 3-1: 20-25, 25-17, 25-22 and 25-14.
 
In the first match, the Black and Yellow made 65 kill, 75 digs, 58 assists and 8 service aces and blocks. Cedar Crest ended the match with an impressive .260 hitting percentage. Two Falcons led the team in kills, junior Nicole Hill (Parsippany, NJ/Parsippany) and sophomore Lindsey Davis (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth Area) each contributed 18 kills in the match. Hill also led the team with a season-high seven blocks. Freshmen Talia Watson (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton) recorded 34 assists while Madison Flatt (Reinholds, Pa./Cocauco) was credited for 19 assists. Sophomore Tiffany Hoppes (Macungie, Pa./Emmaus) led the Falcons with 23 digs while sophomore Kailey Elrod (Annville, Pa./Palmyra Area) had 20 and Davis added 19.
 
Cedar Crest had 42 kills, 58 digs, 40 assists and 10 service aces in the second match. Three Falcons were in double figures in kills, led by Elrod with 12 while Hill and Davis each contributed 10. Hill also added four kills and a block in the contest. Watson led the team in assists with 18 assists while Flatt earned 16 assists. Contributing 15 digs was Hoppes, followed by Elrod with 12 and Davis with 11.
 
The Falcons will return to action on Wednesday, September 26 at 7:00 PM, when they host CSAC opponent Wilson college to open conference play.
