Cedar Crest improves to 4-0 in CSAC play after road-win over Cairn

LANGHORNE, Pa. --- The Cedar Crest College Volleyball program improved to 4-0 in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action after defeating Cairn University in straight sets on Saturday afternoon. The Falcons swept the Highlanders in three sets, (25-23, 30-28 and 25-17) and improve to 10-8 overall and remain unbeaten in conference play, 4-0.
 
Cedar Crest led in every statistical category, scoring 52 digs, 40 points, 29 kills, 24 assists, eight service aces and three total blocks in the match.
 
Freshman Kayla Yasso (Blandon, Pa./Fleetwood) led the squad in kills with eight in the match, senior Nicole Hill (Parsippany, NJ/Parsippany) downing six attacks for kills and sophomore Britney Rivera (Flanders, N.J./Mount Olive) recorded four kills in the win. Leading the Falcons in assists was the sophomore setter Madison Flatt (Reinholds, Pa./Cocalico) who recorded 21 assists. Junior Libero Tiffany Hoppes (Macungie, Pa./Emmaus) contributed 18 digs in the contests and was also credited with an assist. Yasso tallied 12 digs to round out the Black and Yellow in double-figures. Flatt also recorded seven digs and a block. Hill would also lead the team with three blocks and shared the lead in service aces with senior Jannelle Mohney (Elkton, Mary./Rising Sun) and junior Madison McGowan (Birdsboro, Pa./Daniel Boone) with two aces each.
 
The Falcons will return to action on Tuesday, October 15 when they travel to the College of Saint Elizabeth for a CSAC contest. The match is set for 7:00 PM in Luing Gymnasium.
 
In attempts to raise money for survivors of domestic violence this October, Cedar Crest College Volleyball is asking for donations in order to support the Turning Point of the Lehigh Valley. October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and our team will be fundraising all month. We will be collecting both monetary and requested items donations at the entrance during all home games that will be going to the Turning Point of the Lehigh Valley.
