ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College Volleyball team moved to (7-0) in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) play and (13-8) overall after their 3-1 victory over Wilson College on Wednesday evening.
The Falcons dropped their first set to a conference opponent in the 2019 season in the first set of the match, falling 20-25. But, the Black and Yellow would claim the next three sets, taking the second and third sets by a score of 25-21. The fourth set went back and forth with the Falcons and Phoenix exchanging multiple rallies, and Wilson even holding a 12-6 lead at one point, before Cedar Crest would put together a streak of their own, cutting the lead to 14-13. This battle in the fourth set would need a few extra points to determine the winner, ultimately with the Falcons winning the set, 32-30 and the match, 3-1.
Cedar Crest led the match in each statistical category, earning 78 points, 77 digs 58 kills, 57 assists, 11 blocks and nine service aces. The Black and Yellow posted a hitting percentage of .217 in the match, with their best percentage coming in the third set, where they hit .333 with 18 kills.
Leading the squad in kills was Senior
Nicole Hill (Parsippany, NJ/Parsippany), who downed 13 attacks for kills, seven total blocks, five digs and an assist. Freshman
Kayla Yasso (Blandon, Pa./Fleetwood) would record 12 kills and 15 digs for a double-double on the night, as sophomore
Britney Rivera (Flanders, N.J./Mount Olive) was third Falcon to reach double-digits in kills, who contributed 11 kills and 13 digs to go along with three assists and three aces. Sophomore
Madison Flatt (Reinholds, Pa./Cocalico) posted a career-high 43 assists and added 14 digs for the third Falcon to post a double-double on the evening, to go with nine kills, three block assists and an ace. Junior
Tiffany Hoppes (Macungie, Pa./Emmaus) led the Falcons in digs, posting 16 digs in the victory with two assists, a kill and a service ace.
Cedar Crest have played their final regular season game at home, traveling for both of the remaining contests. First, they will travel to Notre Dame of Maryland University to take on the defending CSAC Champions on Saturday, October 26. The match is scheduled for 4:00 PM inside of the Knott Sports Complex on Gator Court.
