Volleyball downs Clarks Summit for fourth-straight victory

ALLENTOWN, Pa. --- The Cedar Crest College Volleyball team took down Clarks Summit University in straight sets to improve to 3-0 in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action on Wednesday evening.
 
The Falcons defeated the Defenders in three sets, (25-18, 25-13 and 25-5) and improve to 9-8 overall and remain unbeaten in conference play.
 
Cedar Crest led in every statistical category, scoring 56 points,54 digs, 38 kills, 35 assists, 12 service aces and six total blocks in the match. The Falcons would post a .298 hitting percentage, with their best hitting percentage coming in third set, where they recorded 15 kills with just one error for a .500 hitting percentage.
 
Sophomore Britney Rivera (Flanders, N.J./Mount Olive) led the squad in kills with 10 in the match, with freshman Kelsee Schouppe (Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) downing eight attacks for kills and freshman Kayla Yasso (Blandon, Pa./Fleetwood) recording seven kills in the win. Leading the Falcons in assists was the sophomore setter Madison Flatt (Reinholds, Pa./Cocalico), who recorded 28 helpers and would tally four aces to tie the game-high. Junior Libero Tiffany Hoppes (Macungie, Pa./Emmaus) contributed 19 digs in the contests and was also co-leading in services aces with four. Hoppes was also credited with three assists as Flatt tallied 15 digs to round out the Black and Yellow in double-figures. Yasso also recorded seven digs and two assists to go along with her seven kills.
 
The Falcons will return to action on Saturday, October 12 when they travel to Cairn University for a CSAC contest. The match is set for 11:00 AM in the Mason Activity Center.
 
In attempts to raise money for survivors of domestic violence this October, Cedar Crest College Volleyball is asking for donations in order to support the Turning Point of the Lehigh Valley. October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and our team will be fundraising all month. We will be collecting both monetary and requested items donations at the entrance during all home games that will be going to the Turning Point of the Lehigh Valley.
