NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, South Carolina --- The Cedar Crest College Softball team went 0-2 to open the 2019 campaign on Saturday at the North Myrtle Beach Sports Complex on Saturday.

In Game 1 of the day, The Falcons faced Penn State Harrisburg and went four scoreless innings before the Nittany Lions got their first hit, and put up three runs. Penn State would post a six-run 6
th inning to end the game, 0-9 in 6-innings.

Three Falcons recorded hits in game 1, starting with sophomore
Patricia Dalton (Northampton, Pa./Northampton Area), who went 1-for-2 in the contest. Recording their first collegiate hits and first hits as Falcons were freshman
Skyler Bilous (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland) and
Stephanie Herpel (Allentown, Pa./Parkland).
Herpel recorded a double and stole a base in her first game wearing Black and Yellow, as
Bilous reached on a single in the infield.

Starting the game in the circle was junior
Breanna Young (Easton, Pa./Wilson Area), who had a no-hitter through four innings.
Young allowed nine runs, which eight were earned, four walks and one strikeout to the 31 batters faced.
Young went 5.2 innings and received the loss in the contest.

Game 2 had the Black and Yellow behind early, as Castleton University scored nine 1
st-inning runs. Cedar Crest would get one back in the bottom-half of the 1
st, but would allow 2 runs in the 2
nd and five more in the 4
th before scoring another run in the bottom of the 5
th inning. The game went final in five innings with a final score of 2-16.

Cedar Crest earned five hits in Game 2, with
Herpel and
Bilous each reaching base again.
Bilous recorded a double during her 1-for-3 afternoon, including scoring the two Falcons' runs in the game. Also getting their first hits of their college careers were freshmen
Nicole Santaniello (Kissimmee, Fl./Osceola) and
Delaney VanBuskirk (Bridgeville, Del./Woodbridge).
Santaniello poked a single through the infield, as
VanBuskirk went 2-for-3 for her first and second hits as a Falcon.

Junior
Kendra Pekurny (Kunkletown, PA/Palmerton Area) started in the circle and pitched 0.1 inning, allowing six hits and nine earned runs. Making her Falcon debut was freshman
Lillian Boltz (Levittown, Pa./Pennsbury), entering the game in relief.
Boltz allowed nine hits and seven earned runs with two strikeouts.
Pekurny received the loss in the decision, putting her at 0-1 on the year.

The Falcons are right back at it again tomorrow morning as they go up against Wentworth Institute of Technology at 9:30 AM on Field #4 and then face Eastern Mennonite University at 11:30 AM on Field #3 at the North Myrtle Beach Sports Complex.
