ALLENTOWN, Pa. --- The Cedar Crest College Lacrosse team defeated Centenary University, 14-7 under the lights at the FalconPlex in their first Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) game of the 2019 season. The Falcons earn their first win of the season, putting them at 1-4 overall and 1-0 in the CSAC.

The Falcons struck first, scoring just 15 seconds into the game as freshman
Elysia Slatery (Melbourne, Fl./Eau Gallie) netted the team's first goal of the game. The Cyclones would score twice before
Slatery would find the back of the net for the second time in the first five minutes. Centenary would regain the lead at 3-2 and that would be the last time the lead would change as freshman
Sydney Heathcott (Newburgh, Ind./Castle High) scored three goals in a row to put Cedar Crest up 5-3. The Black and Yellow would score four more first-half goals, two coming from junior
Theresa Neumann (West Point, N.Y./James I. O'Neill) and one each was scored by junior
Miranda Fetchen (Red Hill, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) and freshman
Madyson Lagano (Elkton, Md./North East).
Fetchen recorded her first goal wearing a Falcon uniform. Cedar Crest would head into the half leading Centenary 9-4.

In the second half,
Slatery scored her third goal of the game five minutes into the half, then the Falcons allowed three Cyclone goals in a row, cutting the lead down to three, 10-7. The Falcons would then net four unanswered goals, the first coming from freshman
Elizabeth Fennimore (Macungie, Pa./Emmaus), followed by junior
Isabella Savino (Middletown, Del./Middletown),
Lagano scored her second of the game, and then junior
Alissa Ardila (Silver Spring, Md./Wheaton) got a shot past the goalkeeper to put the final score at 14-7.

"They moved the ball in transition very well and looked for each other throughout the field," continued
Coach Holdridge.

Sophomore
Allison Churchill (West Deptford, N.J./West Deptford) started in goal and played all 60 minutes for the Black and Yellow.
Churchill made 21 saves on the 28 shots on goal in the game, giving her the first win of her career as a goalkeeper, now 1-4 on the season.

Cedar Crest earned 11 draw controls, 42 ground balls and 14 clears compared to Centenary's 12 draw controls, 44 ground balls and 12 clears to end the contest.

Coach Holdridge concluded with saying "All of the hard work they have put in day to day really showed on the field tonight! I am so grateful to be a part of this part of this program!"

The Falcons hit the road this weekend with another CSAC game versus Notre Dame of Maryland down in Baltimore. First-whistle is scheduled for 1:00 PM on Alumnae Field.
