Volleyball downs Bryn Mawr in Straight Sets

ALLENTOWN, Pa. --- The Cedar Crest Volleyball team defeated Bryn Mawr College in straight sets, 3-0, on Thursday night in Lees Gymnasium.

The Falcons swept the Owls in three sets, (25-10, 25-9 and 25-5), to improve to 5-5 this season. The Black and Yellow ended the night leading all of the statistical categories with 47 total points, recorded 39 digs, 31 kills, 28 assists, 13 total service aces and three blocks in the win.

Leading the Falcons in kills was freshman Kayla Yasso (Blandon, Pa./Fleetwood), as she recorded nine kills to go with a dig and an assist. Junior Tiffany Hoppes (Macungie, Pa./Emmaus) led the team in digs, as she tallied 10 digs in the match. Sophomore Madison Flatt (Reinholds, Pa./Cocalico), who had 9 digs, led the squad with 22 assists. Flatt also added three kills and an ace as juniors Madison McGowan (Birdsboro, Pa./Daniel Boone) and Elyse Podgurski (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) each contributed three service aces. Senior Nicole Hill (Parsippany, NJ/Parsippany) and freshman Kelsee Schouppe (Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) both downed five balls for five kills apiece in the victory. Hill also recorded two solo blocks in the contest as Schouppe and sophomore Britney Rivera (Flanders, N.J./Mount Olive) blocked one of the Owls attacks for a point. Senior Jannelle Mohney (Elkton, Mary./Rising Sun) joined Hoppes and Rivera with serving for two aces in the win.
 
The Falcons are back in action on Sunday, September 22 when they travel to Scranton for a tri-match at Marywood University in Insalaco Arena. Cedar Crest goes up against the host Pacers to kick-off the day at 11:00 AM, followed by a match with Manhattanville College that is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
