BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Cedar Crest College Volleyball squad was defeated 3-1 by Moravian College on Wednesday evening at Johnston Hall.
The Falcons fell in the first set, 19-25, before claiming the second set 25-18, but dropped the next two sets, 15-25 and 20-25 to suffer a 3-1 loss to the Greyhounds.
The Black and Yellow tallied a total of 50 points with 52 digs, 38 kills, 31 assists, eight service aces and four blocks in the match.
Leading in three separate statistical categories was sophomore setter
Madison Flatt (Reinholds, Pa./Cocalico), who contributed 29 assists, three service aces and was a co-leader in blocks with three. Senior Middle Hitter
Nicole Hill (Parsippany, NJ/Parsippany) recorded a team-high 11 kills in the match and was the other co-leader with three blocks for the Black and Yellow. Junior libero
Tiffany Hoppes (Macungie, Pa./Emmaus) lead the Falcons with 16 digs, followed by freshman Outside Hitter
Kayla Yasso (Blandon, Pa./Fleetwood) and
Hill with eight digs apiece. Freshman Middle Blocker
Kelsee Schouppe (Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) and junior Middle Blocker
Elyse Podgurski (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) were next on the list for kills in the match, with
Schouppe downing nine balls for kills and
Podgurski tallying eight.
Cedar Crest will return to action on Saturday, September 28 when the Falcons host a non-conference contest versus Lehman College. The match is scheduled for 11:00 PM in Lees Gymnasium.
