ALLENTOWN, Pa. --- The Cedar Crest Volleyball program earned a pair of wins as they hosted their first home matches of the 2019 season in Lees Gymnasium on Saturday.

The Falcons improve to (3-3) overall on the season after opening the day with a 3-1 (22-25, 27-25, 25-19 and 25-17) over Pratt Institute and closed out the tri-match with a four-set victory over Goucher College, 3-1 (25-20, 25-20, 21-25 and 25-23).

"Ultimately, we fought hard," commented Head Coach
Shelby Morgan. "We still have some adjusting and things to work on but I'm proud of this weekend's outcome. We served aggressively and battled each set. "

In the first match of the day, Cedar Crest was led by senior
Nicole Hill (Parsippany, NJ/Parsippany) who finished the match in double-figures in kills with 12 and was also a co-leader in blocks with three and also tallied three service aces. Three Falcons recorded double-digits in digs, led by junior
Tiffany Hoppes (Macungie, Pa./Emmaus) with 15, followed by sophomore
Britney Rivera (Flanders, N.J./Mount Olive) and junior
Elyse Podgurski (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) with 10. Sophomore
Madison Flatt (Reinholds, Pa./Cocalico) was by the far the leader in assists with 30 helpers in the contest. Freshman
Kelsee Schouppe (Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) was the other co-leader in blocks with three. Cedar Crest ended the match with 61 digs, 34 kills, 34 assists, 12 aces and seven blocks

In the afternoon match versus Goucher, four different Falcons recorded 10 or more digs, led by
Rivera with 19,
Flatt with 17,
Hoppes with 15 and
Podgurski with 13. Both
Hill and
Schouppe earned 12 kills in the match as
Hill was also the blocks leader with four. Getting the ball where it needed to be for attacks to be executed was
Flatt who was credited for 36 assists versus the Gophers. The Black and Yellow concluded the day with 75 digs, 45 kills and assists, seven blocks and six service aces.

The Falcons will return to action on Thursday, September 12 when they host Gwynedd Mercy University at Lees Gymnasium. The match is slated for 7:00 PM.
